The Royal Minnow Trap

Ty's Fishing Adventures

Good Things Come To Those That Bait!

Thrills for everyone! Kids get a kick out of watching minnows enter the trap and adults enjoy getting bait fast and easy.

Our Traps

Similar to the old glass minnow traps that are not safe for you or the river. Made of clear, durable plastic with a metal wire handle and adjustable wire feet. If desired, weights can be added for stronger currents. The minnows go in the cone shaped hole at one end and are retrieved from the other end with the sliding gate.

  • Other wire mesh/casting net traps allow the minnows to get out.

  • Hard plastic is durable to avoid breaking.

  • Long lasting-averaging 20 years.

Great river trapGreat river trap

We have been using this since the 70's . Its our go to trap for the upper Meramec river. We put lead weights on the legs to hold it in place. Bait it with a few saltine crackers and set it in flowing water that is not too fast and not too slow. You will learn to set in it the edges of the riffle. It beats everything except a seine and we do not always have two men that know how to seine. This beat wire traps x 10 times better out on the river. They do seem to go in faster when it is set in the sunlight. If the shade is on ot then move it. A strong leader with a float attached is handy to locate your trap.We have been using this since the 70's . Its our go to trap for the upper Meramec river. Produced more bait fish then my old standard wire-mesh trap

*1 Year Update*

Well after just over a year of use, i can officially say i love this trap! I was so worried about it breaking and not getting another that i ordered a second and put it in the garage shelf for when the OG one breaks. One problem i did have was getting the trap to fully sink and go where i want - but the company put a note in my 2nd one that said to drill a few holes up top if you want it to sink faster. I got a 1/64th bit and drilled 5 more holes on the very top and now there is no more trapped air and it sinks fast without much compromise to the single entrance and keeping the bait inside the trap. The only, and i mean only, problem i really have with it is the material - my metal ones i could toss around and not worry but this one im worried ill crush it, break it, or the UV light will eventually yellow and crack the plastic (hence the 2nd backup one i ordered) but outside of that i love it! The other minor down side is that it wont break down for easy travel like some of the collapsalble ones on the market -but it was a small price to pay for the increased performance of this trap over the others. Hope it helps!
